Yoga Therapy Foundations: Working with Chronic Pain & Injuries
(12 hours CEU)
November 18 to 20, Yangon Yoga House, Yangon

“What are all these blockages in the body? Where do they come from?
It’s the mind watching itself.” ~ Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen, Founder of Body Mind Centering

A 2-day deep dive into to exploring the matrix of our mind-body to understand our holding and blockages through functional and embodied anatomy. Working with movement, breath inquiries, and bodywork as tools for transformation and healing. We will tap into classical yogic philosophies and how it relates to our physiology and nervous system. Alignment is a process of constant balancing and embracing change. We will cultivate a mindful and practical dialogue in dealing with pain, injuries, anxiety & stress.
Through an inquiry-based approach, Daphne will guide you into uncovering your very own healing through our physical and subtle mind-body maps. Learn mindfulness, self-care and hands-on techniques in supporting yourself and others.

Syllabus Outline:
• Understanding Yoga & mindfulness as therapeutic tools
• The anatomy of breath & the paradigm of breath & dis-ease
• A look into common back pain & body imbalances through the Psoas & Fasia network
• Basic bodywork modalities & self-care techniques for pain & stress relief

Programme schedule:
Day 1 - Understanding Yoga as Therapy: Posture & Breath (3.5 hours AM + 3 hours PM)
This session will begin with inquiring the movement patterns of our mind & body and understanding the anatomy of breath. Working through various movement explorations of our breath patterns from within to understand our individual unique blueprint.  We will look into various conditions of the spine and pelvis with hands-on techniques on releasing tension from troubled areas such as the back, shoulders & neck

Day 2 - Inquiry-based Embodiment: Repose & Release (3.5 hours AM + 3 hours PM)
Building upon the blue print of identifying, articulating, differentiating & integrating our breath within the body, we will further unravel the embodiment process through our relationships with gravity, the support of our visceral organs, as well as our fascia network. Experience functional anatomy through a look at the elusive Psoas muscle and its relationship with our physiology & nervous system.
