Coming Back to Our Being:
The Yoga of Sensing

Cultivating sensory awareness in movement and touch, as well as embodying a knowledge of how the body and mind are intricately connected through breath, emotions, and our nervous system, will empower one to practice self-care effectively, and to also share this knowledge to others in meaningful ways.

In this workshop, we will touch on the following -
  • Cultivate a nuanced sense of awareness through movement & breath
  • Explore an ongoing, moment-to-moment exploration of balance, stability and mobility in movement and posture
  • Bring clarity to our body-mind’s relationship with gravity and levity: yielding / propping / collapse
  • Experience balance as a dynamic and intuitive state in both movement and hands-on partner work
  • Discover about whole body functional integration of healthy movement patterns through the lens of our body’s unique blueprint

Each day will include movement inquiry, meditation & breathwork, restorative & partner work, as well as interactive group work. The only pre-requisite for this retreat is your curiosity and open-mind.

Workshop descriptions

【W.S1日目 Session1 Movement explorations 】

Embodiment of the Breath Body
The breath is the conduit between the body and the mind.
Learn about the anatomy of breath through exploring 3 diaphragms within the body. We will tap into natural grounding and expansive qualities of our breath as a perceptual baseline, and create easeful movement between the play of stability and freedom. This session will help to create more awareness of how to become aware of the movement of our breath to anchor the mind to a state of focus, and allow the practice to unfold into a state of ease and steadfastness.

【W.S1日目 Session2 Group work & Therapeutic Practice】

Gentle Somatic Partner Work: Learning to Listen
In this session, we will learn basic body and gait reading skills to observe functional holding patterns. Using gentle and mindful techniques to create spaciousness through breath, and grounding through support, we will take turns to hold space and to receive touch. This is a practice to listen deeply into the body’s inner rhythms and facilitate a shift towards balance. We will practice simple techniques in releasing tension in the back, neck, shoulders, calm tension headaches and release the breath.

【W.S2日目 session 3-Movement explorations】

Tapping into our Inner Ocean:  The Fluid Body

Our body is made up of two-third fluids. Ride the tides and waves of our fluids as the buoyancy of our internal organs as a support structure. Moving through the fluids, we will work with an introspective quality that can help us reconnect with an inner strength and open to the flow between our unconscious and conscious mind. The practice will explore the following:
  • How to find support from a softness that emanates from within?
  • How can our body- mind transform / transcend held beliefs?
  • How do we find balance between rest and activity?

【W.S2日目 session 4-Partner work】

Spatial Medicine: Myofascial ReleaseOur connective tissues is the biological fabric that shapes and holds us together. In this session, you will be guided through breathwork, movement, and interoception to explore the qualities of myofascial connections in the body. We will work with props and with hands-on touch to experience and embody the body-mind and our nervous system as a holistic network of interconnections
